Schönenbach Chapel

The Trinity Chapel is a chapel in the mountain pasture settlement Schönenbach in Bregenzerwälder community Bezau in the district of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . It lies in the open field at the end of the Bizau valley.

architecture

The chapel is a rectangular building with a recessed 5/8 choir with a flat arched ceiling, above which an octagonal turret with a pointed helmet rises. A long prayer room with a trapezoidal ceiling forms the ship, which is illuminated on both sides by three arched windows. The retracted round choir arch bears the year 1697.

Furnishing

The altar structure with two twisted columns comes from Anton Dürcher and was created around 1700. The altarpiece shows the "Dream of St. Joseph".

The figures of St. Mary and Child in the left and St. Anna in the right choir niche were created around the year 1500. On the arch of the choir there are consoles on the left a figure of St. Catherine and on the right one of St. Barbara , both were created around 1740. The The choir arch crucifix dates from the 18th century, the figure of St. Gall on the right wall of the nave is also from the end of the 18th century. The painting on the right wall of the nave shows the Holy Trinity with Saints Martin and Wendelin . Furthermore, the coat of arms of the donors from Deuring and Raßler von Gamerschwang - painted in 1679 by Matthäus Zehender - as well as a view of the upper town of Bregenz is shown. The stations of the cross emerged at the end of the 19th century.
