The Dresden Sport GmbH (DSG) was one of the leading producers of bobs . The company, which emerged from a production branch of VEB Flugzeugwerft Dresden , had customers in 38 nations.

Around half of all Olympic gold medals from 1980 to 2007 were won with bobsleighs from Dresden. More than 40 of the approx. 60 national associations organized in the FIBT world association have acquired DSG bobsleighs or at least essential components in this high-tech forge.

A managing director and owner, Stephan Weber, used to work at VEB Formplast Rübenau . There was u. a. the manufacture of the plastic parts and hoods of the first bobsleighs built in the GDR . Weber is also the managing director of the plastics processing company in Olbernhau , which supplies today's hoods made of glass fiber reinforced polyester resin or carbon fiber reinforced epoxy resin (CFRP).

After building a total of 303 two-man and four-man bobsleighs, the DSG ceased operations on January 31, 2014 due to a poor order situation.
