Drew Barry

Drew William Barry (born February 17,  1973 in Oakland ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

In 117 games for the university team of the Georgia Institute of Technology , the 1.96-meter-long construction player achieved an average of 10.7 points between 1992 and 1996 and prepared 6.2 basket hits from his fellow men. With the latter value, he took second place in the all-time best list of "Georgia Tech".

In the 1996 NBA draft , the Seattle SuperSonics called Barry on 57th and penultimate position. But he was removed from Seattle's roster before the start of the 1996/97 season. Barry then went to the Fort Wayne Fury team in the CBA , for which he played six missions, but received little playing time.

1997/98 he made his NBA debut with the Atlanta Hawks , stood in 27 games for the team on the field (2.1 points / game). In the 1998/99 season Barry was committed by the Seattle SuperSonics in January 1999, in 17 games for Seattle he averaged 2.2 points per encounter. From the beginning of November 1999 to mid-December 1999 Barry ran in eight games for the Sydney Kings in the Australian NBL league (7.6 points, 6.3 assists / game). He went back to his home country, between mid-December 1999 and early January 2000 he was under contract with the Golden State Warriors (NBA), Barry was used by the team from his hometown in eight games (2.8 points / game). In late March 2000, he signed a contract with the Atlanta Hawks until the end of the 1999/2000 season and played the last eight of his 60 NBA appearances for the team.

During the 2000/2001 season, Barry accepted an offer from German Bundesliga club Brandt Hagen . He made 24 Bundesliga appearances, averaging 15 points per game and preparing 5.7 basket hits per game. During his time in Hagen there was a fight between Barry and his teammate Daren Queenan  on the field.

In the 2001/02 season Barry played briefly with Metis Varese in the first Italian division (6 games, 5.7 points / game), then in the same country with the second division Celana Bergamo. He moved to Poland for the 2002/03 game year and strengthened the local first division club Prokom Trefl Sopot . With the team he also took part in the European club competition FIBA ​​Europe Champions Cup, reached the final, but lost it with Sopot against Aris Thessaloniki .

Barry is the son of Rick Barry and the brother of Scooter Barry , Jon Barry and Brent Barry .
