Driscoll Island is a narrow and 26 km long island off the Saunders coast of West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . It is located in the middle of Block Bay .
The island was partially mapped using aerial photographs taken on December 5, 1929 as part of the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930). The United States Geological Survey completely mapped it in the period between 1959 and 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Lawrence J. Driscoll Jr. (* 1926), boatswain's mate on the icebreaker USS Glacier during use along this coast between 1961 and 1962.
