Driver: Renegade (also Driver: Renegade 3D ) is a racing game and the first title in the successful Driver series for the handheld console Nintendo 3DS . It was developed and published by the French company Ubisoft .
The game principle is based on the other series parts. The player takes on the role of the undercover policeman John Tanner who tries to break up a criminal organization. In terms of content, it connects directly to the first Driver part and acts as a bridge between this part and its successor Driver 2: Back on the Streets .
The reception of the title was rather negative. Metacritic calculated a meta rating of 48 out of 100 points.
action
The plot follows on directly from Driver , which ended with the protagonist Tanner preventing an assassination attempt on the American president, but leaving the police out of anger about his colleagues and their way of working. In the meantime, Tanner succeeds in preventing the kidnapping of New York Senator Andrew Ballard . So Senator Tanner offers to help him fight criminal organizations in New York. Tanner agrees and begins to take down leading figures in the underworld and gather information about the attempted kidnapping of the Senator. After he has largely succeeded in this and he wants to break the last gang, he learns from the leader of the gang that the senator himself controls organized crime. He tries to arrest the senator, but is arrested by the police, who believe he was an assassin on the senator. In prison, a friend put him in contact with the FBI, which Tanner recruits for a secret assignment in Chicago.
Gameplay
The concept represents a simplification of the concept of Driver and Driver 2 . The central part of the game is the campaign, which consists of 20 missions, including car chases, races and escape drives. In contrast to the most recent publications in the series, the missions are all completed with vehicles, the often criticized operations on foot have been removed.
