COP The Recruit is an action adventure released by Ubisoft in 2009 and set in the Driver game universe .

Gameplay

Dan Miles makes a living doing illegal street racing. When he is arrested one day for this, the court offers him a deal. Either he goes to prison or is rehabilitated in the Criminal Overturn Program (COP) . Miles opts for the latter and is assigned Detective Brad Winter as a mentor. His job is to solve 60 crimes. In addition, the player gets a small additional mission "in", the fulfillment of which is voluntary and has no influence on the game. The developer specifies a playing time of approx. 20 hours.

Besides, the player is free to explore the city. Similar to the competitor GTA, there are hidden objects to be found in the form of photos that the player has to take himself. A menu can be called up at any time by means of a PDA . a. the navigation system, vehicle list, POIs , etc. can call up. Killing or running over other characters is not possible.

There are many different fictional vehicles available, including small boats.

technology

The intricately designed city in 3D - unusual for the Nintendo DS - is striking. The surroundings are reflected in the windows, there are many vehicles driving around and passers-by populate the game world. The city of New York City was roughly recreated and the design is based on Driver: Parallel Lines .

reception

The reviews vary widely, from mediocre to very good. The excellent technical performance and the scope were praised, a point of criticism that was frequently mentioned was the poor setting.
