Printing technologist is an apprenticeship that takes four years to complete. The profession used to be called printer and also had a four-year apprenticeship. Due to the increasingly closer occupations of printer and polygraph , the profession was renamed printing technologist in 2003 with a four-year apprenticeship. The main tasks of the printing technologist are: setting up the printing machine, monitoring the smooth production run and permanent quality assurance of the run.

Training in Germany

The apprenticeship as a printer was modernized in 2010 and came into force in 2011 as a media technologist for printing with a three-year training period.

requirement

  • Secondary school diploma or good secondary school diploma
  • Aptitude test by Viscom is required at some companies
  • Technically gifted, good understanding of physical and technical processes

  • Sense of responsibility
  • Teamwork

Flexo printers have a 3-year training period and then carry the designation "Flexo printer / in EFZ".

Further education in Switzerland

Passing the final apprenticeship examination gives entitlement to the federal certificate of proficiency as a "trained printing technologist".

Attending the vocational school is possible during or after the apprenticeship.
