Drummonie House

Drummonie House is a villa near the Scottish village of Bridge of Earn in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

Drummonie House was built in 1697. Another year indicates the year 1703. The northeast wing was added around the middle of the 18th century. In 1818 the villa was redesigned and a salon for the hotel at the time was added on the northwest side.

The villa is largely isolated around 1.5 kilometers west of the Bridge of Earn. Stylistically it shows parallels to Methven Castle . The two-story building originally had a square floor plan. Its facades are plastered with Harl , with natural stone details set off. The main facade, which is exposed to the south-east, has two stepped gables . It is five axes wide. Doric columns and slender vertical windows flank the central entrance portal, which closes with a segmental arched window . The design was probably made during the revision in 1818. A stone balustrade runs between the two gables . The northeast wing is two-story. Its masonry is made of quarry stone .
