history

The band was formed as part of the Stollwerck scene. Since it was founded almost 35 years ago, the ensemble has mainly played in joint sessions; the first quartet of the group consisted of Jaki Liebezeit , Reiner Linke, Manos Tsangaris and Frank Köllges . After Köllges' departure in 1995, Gero Sprafke took his place, which Maf Retter took over in 2000. Since 2006, the ensemble has partly expanded to form a percussion quintet with Olek Gelba.

In 1986 the ensemble played the music for the first trailer of the Cologne Filmhaus , which Josef Stöhr realized. "In the animated film the streets of Cologne blink, aggressive air men get churches and chapels swinging, and the drumming of Drums Off Chaos goes with it ." Drums Off Chaos have also performed with Maria de Alvear , Thomas Kessler and, in recent years, Jens-Uwe Beyer and Dominik von Senger.
