The Dry River is a river in Jamaica . It runs through the Parish Saint Mary .

source

The source of the river is in an area called Cocoa Wood, on the border between the two parishes of Saint Mary and Portland . It is formed from ten streams that have their source in both states. The highest of these springs is on the east side of Telegraph Mountain at an altitude of about 1200 meters. It is part of a mountain range called Grand Ridge , a foothill of the Blue Mountains .

Course and infrastructure

The Dry River passes several small towns during its course. It runs from the Grand Ridge, along Mount Joseph , with a few slight bends to the north and flows west of the village of Golden Grove at Fig Tree Bay into the Caribbean Ocean.

The largest river that flows into the Dry River is the May River.

A total of four bridges lead over the Dry River. The first is in Timsberry, where the river runs east to west. The second flyover is in neighboring Enfield. The other two bridges are only found near the ocean. One of the bridges is the A4 connecting Kingston with Annotto Bay . A railway line runs over another.
