history

The Club des Patineurs et Hockeyeurs Dijonnais, which was founded in 1901, has played continuously in the Ligue Magnus since the 2002/03 season . Their participation in the top French division was preceded by an increase in the number of participants from seven to 15 in Ligue Magnus in 2002. Previously, the team won the championship of Division 2 , the third highest French division, in 1988 and 2000 .

In the 2002/03 season they reached the beginning of the eighth of 15 places. The following year they improved to seventh place, before they 2004/05, when the playoffs were newly introduced, this tenth by six points. The 2005/06 season was the most successful in club history when the Ducs reached the semi-finals in both the league, where they were defeated by 0: 3 games to the eventual champions Rouen Hockey Elite 76 and when they first won the Coupe de France . In the final, they beat the Diables Rouges de Briançon 3-2 after extra time. But already in the following season Dijon fell to the penultimate place. In the 2007/08 season, Dijon was eliminated for the second time in their second playoff participation when they were again subject to the team from Rouen . In 2016, the team was relegated from Ligue Magnus. In the 2017/18 season, the club was supposed to compete in third-class Division 2 , but withdrew its team there and played with the previous second representation in Division 3 .
