Duke Nukem II is a platform game for MS-DOS that was developed by Apogee Software and released on December 3, 1993. The game is divided into four episodes, each with eight levels, with the first episode being available as shareware. The game is the second part of a more than ten game Duke Nukem series.

action

The Rigelatins plan to enslave the earth and kidnap Duke Nukem, who just had an interview on his autobiography Why I'm So Great , to use his brain as a plan to attack their forces. Duke manages to break out and must save the world again.

The story of Duke Nukem II was published in 1999 for the Game Boy Color as Duke Nukem , apart from a few name differences .

The main goal of the player is to traverse the levels and find the exit that leads to the next level. On the way there you can collect weapons, healing items and power-ups that bring you points. The items are mostly found in boxes that burst when shot at. The player must also eliminate opponents (mostly robots, slimy aliens and men in black suits) in the levels, for which the standard weapon is usually sufficient, but which can be expanded with power-ups.

Most of the time, Duke Nukem walks through the levels, but some levels have vehicles that Duke can use. In every last level of the four episodes you meet Rigelatin as the final boss.

Game Boy Color version

The Game Boy Color version was called Duke Nukem instead of Duke Nukem II . It is Torus Games' first handheld game to use the Duke Nukem license (the second was Duke Nukem Advance ), which was sub-licensed by publisher GT Interactive . The game contains 21 levels and eight slots to save the game.

particularities

  • In the intro, after Duke shoots a smiley face at the target like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon , he says in a voice reminiscent of Terminator, "I'M BACK !!"
  • Some of the textures are from Turrican and Savage [1]
  • The PC game Duke Nukem 3D features a Duke Nukem II arcade machine. When the player wants to use this, he says "Hmm ... Don't have time to play with myself."
