Stupid mosse

Dumme mosse is a large moor in the west of Jönköping municipality in the north-west of Småland and is crossed by Riksväg 40 . Since 1998 it has been largely protected by a 2,865 hectare nature reserve .

The moor is at an altitude of about 225  m above sea level . The central parts are about 4-6 meters deep. Large parts of stupid mosse were caused by waterlogging in the ground; the peat consists mainly of small pieces of sphagnum moss. The moor is mainly drained by the Dummeån and partly by the Dunkehallaån . The great road across the moor was laid out by the Danes in 1567 for their attack on Jönköping .

Plank paths make the moor accessible to hikers.
