Duncan McNeil
Duncan McNeil , (born September 7, 1950 in Greenock ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .
Life
McNeil trained as a boiler maker at a shipyard. From 1981 he worked for the GMB union. He continued his education and eventually became the union's regional coordinator.
In the first Scottish general election in 1999, McNeil ran for the first time to national elections. He applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Greenock and Inverclyde and was able to win it with a clear lead over the candidate of the Liberal Democrats , Ross Finnie . In Parliament he acted as a whip in the Labor Group. McNeil defended his mandate in the 2003 and 2007 general elections . In 2011 he received the mandate from Greenock and Inverclyde again, but despite slight gains in votes, he only just defended it from the SNP candidate Stuart McMillan .
