Duo505 is an Austrian Indietronic duo from Vienna and consists of the electronic artist Bernhard Fleischmann and the classically trained guitarist Herbert Weixelbaum. The band name "Duo505" is a combination of Duo and the name of the Groovebox MC-505 from the manufacturer Roland used by the two members .

Band history

Duo505 was created in 2001 when the Viennese concert organizer Wolfgang Kopper encouraged the two musicians to perform together with their groove boxes. On the occasion of the Belt Nightwalk , which takes place annually on the Vienna Belt , Fleischmann and Weixelbaum then gave a joint concert, which was initially intended as a one-off cooperation. However, the two musicians enjoyed the musical collaboration and decided to give more concerts and later write and record songs together. In August 2004, the debut album Late was finally released by Morr Music . In 2004 Fleischmann and Weixelbaum went on tour with other musicians from Morr Music in the USA and Canada. For their second album Another Illusion , which was released in 2008, Duo505 switched to the Vienna label Konkord .

style

When recording together, the two musicians usually proceed in such a way that each one adds something to the other's pieces. The different styles of music by Weixelbaum and Fleischmann complement each other and result in a new sound. Fleischmann's reluctance and slight melancholy give way to a rocky confidence with only a few thoughtful moments. The straight and homogeneous pieces of music by the duo evoke suggestive and dream-like images in the listener.
