E. Wallace Chadwick

Edward Wallace Chadwick (born January 17, 1884 in Vincennes , Indiana , †  August 18, 1969 in Chester , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1949 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1890, Wallace Chadwick came to Chester, Pennsylvania with his parents. He attended the local high school and then studied until 1906 at the University of Pennsylvania . After a subsequent law degree at the same university and his admission to the bar in 1910, he began to work in this profession in Chester. He was also involved in the banking industry. In 1945 he became the presiding judge in the Delaware County Guardianship Court . Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1946 congressional election , Chadwick was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded James Wolfenden on January 3, 1947 . Since he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party in 1948, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1949 . This was shaped by the events of the beginning Cold War .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Wallace Chadwick practiced law again. In 1954, he was senior advisor to a Senate committee investigating censorship allegations against Senator Joseph McCarthy . He died in Chester on August 18, 1969.
