The Emek Partisi (or EMEP ), German  Labor Party , is a Marxist-Leninist and Hoxhaist workers' party in Turkey, founded in 1996 . She is committed to scientific socialism .

Development of the party

EMEP was founded by members of the illegal Türkiye Devrimci Komünist Partisi (TDKP, Revolutionary Communist Party of Turkey). It existed as Emek Partisi between March 27, 1996 and February 14, 1997. It was banned by the Constitutional Court for violating Articles 78 and 81 of the Law on Political Parties with the number 2820. The Emeğin Partisi (can also be translated as the Party of Labor or Labor and abbreviated to EMEP) was founded on November 26, 1996. Both parties were initially headed by Abdullah Levent Tüzel . In a decision of May 31, 2005, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the party's ban violated Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Thereupon the Emeğin Partisi renamed itself again in November 2005 in Emek Partisi .

The party is close to the Halkların Demokratik Partisi .

Participation in elections

The Emek Partisi has participated in all national elections since its inception. She has entered into coalitions with various parties. In the elections to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 2002 , it formed a bloc "Workers, Peace, Democracy" with 20 parties and political groups, and in the regional elections in 2004 a similar coalition was put together as the "bloc of united forces". In the 2007 elections , EMEP was directly involved in some places and in coalitions with independent candidates in others. Abdullah Levent Tüzel stood for election in Izmir as an independent candidate for the forces “Labor and Democracy” and received 36,167 votes (a share of 3.4%). With that he missed the election to the MP.

In the 2011 elections there was again the block “Labor, Peace, Democracy”, for which independent candidates ran for election (including representatives from EMEP). Levent Tüzel faced the elections in the 3rd area of Istanbul and was elected as an independent candidate. The party's own share of the vote remained small. In the parliamentary elections in Turkey in 2007 , the Emek Partisi won 0.08% of the total vote. In the 2011 elections , the party received a total of 21,128 votes, 0.07% of the total.
