EPAM Systems, Inc. , also known as EPAM, is a global software engineering and IT consultancy based in Newtown , Pennsylvania , United States . The company operates software development centers and offices in North America , Europe , Asia and Australia . EPAM Systems' Germany office is located in Frankfurt am Main .

history

Early years and IPO

The company was founded in 1993 as EPAM by the two Belarusians Arkadiy Dobkin in Princeton (New Jersey) , USA, and by Leo Lozner in Minsk , Belarus . On December 18, 2002, the two companies were incorporated as EPAM Systems. Since then the company has grown to approximately 30,100 employees.

EPAM originally stood for " E ffective P rogramming For Am erica", nowadays prefers the company to use only the acronym in its marketing and information materials.

On January 24, 2012, EPAM's IPO was announced on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker "EPAM". This was the first IPO from the tech industry in Eastern Europe .

The company works with the United Nations in local and global initiatives to promote sustainability development and social responsibility.

Education funding

EPAM has joined the BctA (Business Call to Action) initiative of the UNDP ( United Nations Development Program ) to bring 5000 students in Central Europe into the IT market by 2020. The company promises to achieve these goals through its university program. Founded in 2004 to meet the growing needs of industry, the program offers specialized IT training for students in Central and Eastern Europe.
