The Eagle Lake Wildlife Sanctuary is a 362 acres (1.5 km² ) large reserve on the eponymous lake at Holden in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
The protected area has different habitats, ranging from red oak forests to extensive wetlands . The flora and fauna are correspondingly diverse; for example, nesting scarlet tangars , tyrants ( Myiarchus crinitus ) and rose breast core crackers can be observed. In spring and autumn the lake also attracts a large number of water birds . There are 2 mi (3.2 km ) of hiking trails available to visitors.
