Earl of Brentford was a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of England .

Award

For the first time on May 27, 1644 the title Earl of Brentford , in the County of Middlesex , the Scottish diplomat and military Patrick Ruthven, 1st Earl of Forth was bestowed. In the Peerage of Scotland he was raised to Lord Ruthven of Ettrick in 1639 and on March 27, 1642 to Earl of Forth . Since he survived both his two sons and his grandson, the titles expired on his death on February 2, 1651 due to the lack of other male heirs.

In the second award, the title Earl of Brentford was awarded on April 10, 1689 to the military leader Friedrich von Schomberg , who came from Germany , together with the titles Duke of Schomberg , Marquess of Harwich and Baron Teyes, which were also awarded to him . His younger son, the 3rd Duke of Schomberg, also became Duke of Leinster , Earl of Bangor and Baron of Tara on June 30, 1691 in the Peerage of Ireland . All of his titles lapsed on his death in July 1719.
