East Side Beat is an Italian dance project from the 1990s that attracted attention through cover versions . The biggest hit was the 1991 single Ride Like the Wind .

Band history

Carl Fanini, an American of Italian descent, moved to Italy from the United States in 1990 . There he founded the East Side Beat project with Francesco Petrocchi, who already had experience with dance music as a keyboardist . Gianfranco Bortolotti joined as a producer .

The first single Ride Like the Wind , a cover version of the classic by Christopher Cross , which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980 , was a success in Europe in 1991/92 . The title was in the top 30 in Germany , Austria and Switzerland , and even in third place in the United Kingdom .

Various other singles appeared by 1995. Alive & Kicking , a cover of the 1985 hit Simple Minds , entered the top 30 of the UK charts in 1992. Six months later, You're My Everything , the reinterpretation of the Lee Garrett song from 1976, still made it to position 65.

Fanini became singer in 1994 at Club House , another project by Gianfranco Bortolotti and Silvio Pozzoli, who became known as Silver Pozzoli in 1984 with Around My Dream . Their Light My Fire was a top 10 hit in the UK charts.
