Ride Like the Wind is a 1979 song by Christopher Cross , written and produced by him. It appeared on the album Christopher Cross and entered the English and American charts in February and April 1980, respectively.

According to the inlay of the album, this song is dedicated to the former little-feat frontman Lowell George , who died in 1979. The background vocals are from Michael McDonald . The play was published on February 15, 1980 and tells of a horseman fleeing to Mexico who shot ten people and is about to be hanged . The refrain is “And I've got such a long way to go to make it to the border of Mexico. So I'll ride like the wind "
