Michael Mind Project was a German DJ and producer duo in the field of house and dance music, which consisted of Jens Kindervater and Frank Sanders .

Career

Beginnings and Production

The two producers from Gräfendorf initially spin under the pseudonym "Michael Mind". Since the end of 2009 they have been releasing their singles as the “Michael Mind Project”. They are still under contract with the German dance label Kontor Records . Michael Mind is supported by illustrator Bastian Sobtzick (known from: Callejon , Heaven Shall Burn , Apocalyptica , Rammstein ) for the visual presentation of the project and video . In addition to releasing their own singles, the duo also appears as a remixer. They also produce songs by various singers.

2007: first successes

The Michael Mind Project was started with the idea of covering Manfred Mann's Earth Band classic Blinded by the Light in a dance version. Due to the success of the Disco Boys with another hit by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, For You , the project was initially abandoned. But after the positive response from the “Sunloverz” producer team (Frank Sanders and Bernd Johnen), the track was finally produced by both of them together. Blinded by the Light was able to maintain number 1 on the dance chart for several weeks and also reached the top 20 of the German single charts as well as number 51 in Austria.

In August 2007, the follow-up single, Ride Like the Wind , a new version of the 1980 hit by Christopher Cross was released . It was represented in the German charts for a total of 7 weeks and reached number 65.

On October 19, 2007, they released their first compilation, which they mixed for Kontor Record. Here you can find various club hits from artists from all over the world.

2008–2010: Debut album My Mind

In 2008 a remake was released again. This time they covered the song Show Me Love , originally created by Robin S. originates. It became one of their most successful titles and reached high chart positions in Germany and Austria.

Shortly afterwards, in October, they released their debut album . It bears the title My Mind and contains, in addition to all previously published titles, a few original compositions and cover versions, but the album could not reach any chart positions and was therefore rather less popular.

Their first single in 2009 is called Baker Street and contains the vocals and saxophone part of the song of the same name by Gerry Rafferty from 1978. This song was also represented in the top 100 in many countries. They achieved their highest ranking in France with 11th place.

Their second single in 2009 was called Love's Gonna Get You . It was released in May 2009, but only hit the charts in June. It's another cover version. The original was made by Bizarre Inc in 1992. The singer Caroline von Brünken played here for the first time and has since sung a number of songs for the Michael Mind Project.

On August 28, 2009, the single Gotta Let You Go was released. This title is a cover version again. It was first published in 1994 by Dominica. This song could only place in the German charts. The rapper Old Silverback took part in this song, and he still does the rap parts for many of the songs.

Renaming to "Michael Mind Project"

For the release of the single How Does It Feel in 2009, "Michael Mind" was renamed "Michael Mind Project". With the addition “Project” the fantasy name should be emphasized, because due to the similarity of a solo project pseudonym and the few appearances of Sanders on CD covers and appearances, it was assumed that Michael Mind is a solo project. Since then they have been publishing under this pseudonym. How Does It Feel was released on November 27, 2009 and was the first harbinger of the 2013 album State of Mind . The title stayed in the German single charts for three weeks, but rose again in 2010. Her top placement was 67th.

Feel Your Body was released on April 16, 2010. In addition to the rap performances by Old Silberback Carolinea, the singer Caroline Von Brünken also played for the first time. This single was also in the charts for 4 weeks and reached number 67. The song was called “timeless” by the fans, because even after years it sounds as if it could come from this year. The song is the first original composition.

With the title Delirious , the Aachen producer duo again presented their own composition as a single in 2010. The American Many Ventrice (also known for her songs with Ian Carey , Rick Ross feat. Kanye West ), who sang the lead vocals, and Carlprit (also known for Cascada's Evacuate the Dancefloor ), who played the Rap parts took over. The single package includes nine different mixes, which among others contributed the German DJ Homeaffairs and the French DJ Chris Kaeser.

Hook Her Up was released on November 19, 2010 and again contains vocals by Caroline Von Brünken and Old Silverback. The song was only released as a promo single and was only released digitally. They released this and the single Delirios without a record label due to a short separation from Kontor Records itself.

2011: breakthrough again

On May 6, 2011, Ready or Not was released as a single. The song was written with the American rapper and singer Sean Kingston , who has already worked with successful singers like Nicki Minaj , Justin Bieber and TI and who also topped the charts with his own songs. Ready or Not rose to number 55 in the German charts, where it stayed for 3 weeks. The single also became the official soccer song of the women's soccer world championship in Germany .

The 12 single Rio de Janeiro was released on November 4, 2011. The Canadian singer Rosette, who gained fame through the talent show Popstars , and the rapper Bobby Anthony, who drew attention through collaboration with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Ian Carey , participated. However, the song was able to reach the top 60 of the German single charts in September 2011, where it was represented for 3 weeks.

2012: First successes in Switzerland with Feeling So Blue

In February, the American singer Jason Derulo released the song Breathing as a single, which was produced and remixed by the Michael Mind Project.

In summer 2012 the single Feeling So Blue was released , in which Dante Thomas was a guest musician. The song uses a sample from the 1999 hit Blue (Da Ba Dee) . Feeling So Blue was featured on the Kontor Top of the Clubs Vol. 55 compilation. The single was able to place in the upper half of the German, Austrian and Swiss charts.

The next single with Dante Thomas was released on September 14, 2012. The song is called Nothing Lasts Forever and was featured again on a Kontor compilation. This song also became a big hit. In Germany, the single could reach 40th place for three weeks. In Austria the song rose to 34th place and in Switzerland to 26th place.

2013: second album State of Mind

Their 15th single Antiheroes was released on December 7th, 2012. The voice of the song was provided by Andreas Öhrn. The song rose to number 78 in the German charts and number 64 in the Austrian charts. They also announced in a preview of the song that they would release an album.

On January 4, 2013, they released their second album State of Mind . This studio album, unlike My Mind, was a huge hit. The album entered the Top 100 in Germany and Austria just a week after its release. At the same time, the single Give Me Love was released , which was recorded together with Birk Storm. However, the single could not reach a chart position.

On March 15, 2013, they released their next single, Unbreakable . The music video for it was shot in LA . Simultaneously with Unbreakable , a new version of the song Razorblade was released , together with X-Factor candidate Lisa Aberer . Both publications could not get chart entry.

On June 28, 2013, the new single entitled One More Round was released in collaboration with the rapper TomE, known from DJ Antoine's single Bella Vita and the Canadian singer Raghav, who has become known through singles like So Confused or Angel Eyes . It was the first single that was not included on the State of Mind album. After just a week, the song entered the German, Austrian and Swiss single charts. The track became a hit especially in Switzerland.

2014: Show Me Love (Official Festival Mix) and Ignite

In March 2014 the duo released a new remix of the song Show Me Love by Robin S from 1993. In 2008 they had a hit with a new recording of the song. Their 2013 album State of Mind featured a 2k13 version of Show Me Love that made them high on the dance charts. Now they remixed the song in the big room style. The style of this remix is compared with the club hits Animals by Martin Garrix or Tsunami by Dvbbs and Borgeous . The track appeared for the first time on the Kontor Top of the Clubs Vol. 62 . The label Kontor Records made the song available for download on iTunes a week before its official release. Shortly after the entry, the song also reached the official single charts and was able to book its first position in the Swiss charts.

After producing the song Supabæss for The Russ Festival , which was similar to Show Me Love in the big room style, the duo announced at the end of May 2014 that a new track called Ignite would be released on July 4, 2014 . On June 19, 2014, the song was released for sale on the Kontor compilation Kontor Top of the Clubs Vol. 63 on iTunes. The song is sung by Andreas Öhrn, the singer of the Swedish music project Gravitonas. Öhrn was already involved in the Michael Mind Project's single Antiheroes . At the end of 2014, they produced and mixed the song Scared by British singer Amanda Wilson. The track was released on October 23, 2014 via Kontor Records.

The project has been very quiet since the beginning of 2015. One of the reasons for this was the founding of the M-22 project by Sanders together with Matt James and its success with the single Good To Be Loved . Nevertheless, on August 7, 2015, a compilation of their greatest hits was released as a so-called megamix . Among them were the songs Blinded by the Lights , Baker Street and Feeling so Blue . This was released for download at the Kontor Summer Jam 2015 and also climbed high on the German iTunes charts. Shortly afterwards, the separation of the duo was officially announced. Disputes were given as the reason.
