State of Mind is the second studio album by the Michael Mind Project . It consists of three CDs and was released on January 4th, 2013, exactly at the time of its 6th anniversary.
background
With the release of their 14th single Antiheroes , they announced that the album would be released on January 4th, 2013. The State of Mind titles were produced, written and composed by the duo themselves, with many other artists participating. The guest musicians or singers are not specified for all songs. The rapper Old Silverback, as well as the singer Caroline von Brünken , who have been the voice of many songs since the beginning of their career, also played many songs on this CD, for example Nothing Lasts Forever , Hook Her Up or Feel Your Body . State of Mind was released on the German record label Kontor Records .
Description of the CDs
- first CD ( ↓ track list)
The first CD of the album consists mainly of new songs. You can also find the single releases that have been released since 2011. The original version of all titles was used except for Hook Her Up , which is available in the Michael Mind Project 2k13 version .
- second CD ( ↓ track list)
The second CD of the album consists exclusively of remixes and 2k13 versions of all kinds of songs from the project, mostly old and no tracks that were recorded at the end of 2012. The remixers included the Swiss DJ Remady and the German DJ duo Bodybangers .
- third CD ( ↓ track list)
The third CD of the album is a thank you for all their fans and is a DJ mix with a length of one hour and twenty minutes. Songs like This Is My Love by Gold 1 or Summer Jam by RIO are only available as a single track in download portals such as Amazon or iTunes .
Deluxe Edition
A deluxe edition of the album was released on July 5, 2013. This contains on the one hand the new song One More Round , which was released in June 2013, as well as all the "extended versions" of the remixes that are included on CD2. The normal version of Razorblade has also been replaced by the single version. The difference between the two versions is that there are new vocals sung by Lisa Aberer . Furthermore, the radio edit of How Does It Feel has been added.
reception
The reviews varied. A reviewer on the "Albumcheck" site gave the entire album . Here is an excerpt from his review:
- While the first CD ripples along and has the extremely poppy sound of the modern age to pray (more like 5 stars), the second CD amazes with strong tracks. Some of them are from the 80s. (here eight stars, because the songs repeat themselves). This encouraged me to dig the originals out of the closet again and play them back and compare them with one another.

- CD number 3 has also turned out quite nice and offers a lot of variety. But if you listen carefully you get the feeling that the songs are repeating themselves over and over again. Here less might have been more.

For the time being, the album could not reach any chart positions, but after two weeks it rose to number 53 in the album charts in Germany. It also got involved in Austria.
