The Disco Boys is a Hamburg DJ team consisting of Raphael Krickow (* 1966 ) and Gordon Hollenga (* 1969 ). They play a mixture of disco classics and modern house songs. The Disco Boys have played at the German Film Awards , the Love Parade , Nature One and Mayday , the Disco Festival and the Life Ball in Vienna. They are DJs in clubs all over the world and are also booked in China , among other places .

Career

The Disco Boys were particularly successful with cover versions or productions with longer quotations or samples from other songs. Her first hit in the German single charts , Born to Be Alive , was a new edition of Patrick Hernandez's disco hit from 1979. Roberto Blanco (RB) wrote the vocal part .

For You , their most commercially successful track to date, uses longer passages of the song of the same name by Manfred Mann's Earth Band , which in turn is based on the song of the same name by Bruce Springsteen . It was co-produced by Syke'N'Sugarstarr. In the Bundesliga seasons 2008/09 and 2009/2010 Borussia Dortmund used the song as an introductory song. For You first hit the charts in 2005 and was re-released two years later. From 2007 to 2010 the single was in the German charts again and again, only interrupted by several compulsory breaks due to a chart exclusion rule for songs that were ranked low at the time. Nevertheless, the song had a total of 93 chart weeks and reached position 17 as the highest position. At the end of 2010, over three years after its release, For You was awarded platinum.

Hey St. Peter is the cover of a 1977 song by Flash and the Pan. In February 2006 the single reached number 8 in the Finnish singles chart. The single BBB-Baby quotes the 1974 hit You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by Bachman-Turner Overdrive .

On February 12, 2005, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Disco Boys, the Disco Festival was launched, which took place annually in the Kassel exhibition halls until 2012 .

In 2007, 2008 and 2009 the Disco Boys released more successful club hits without using samples from other artists. I Love You So , What You Want , Shadows and other singles were released to accompany their existing mix compilations and achieved high chart positions in Germany. The singles were mostly co-produced and written by Christoph Höffel and Robin Felder. The single Love Tonight has been available since June 23, 2010 . It comes in a package with remixes of the song by Jay Frog , SONO and the Tune Brothers , among others .

The Disco Boys Around the World released in 2012, originally by ATC . For the cover, the duo received the blessing of the author Alex Christensen and, thanks to his permission, contained the vocal traces of the original. The Disco Boys also made a name for themselves as a remixer and refined titles by Rosenstolz , Ich + Ich , Mia. , Roger Sanchez , Axwell and many others for the dance floor.

Year after year, The Disco Boys release a self-titled mix compilation on which they immortalize the best tracks from their DJ sets. It was first released as a double album in 2001. Since 2012 it has consisted of three DJ mixes on three CDs. The series always reached the German compilation charts . The Disco Boys produce a single for each new issue.
