Easther Island ( Norwegian Upsøy ) is a roughly H-shaped island in the southeastern part of Prydz Bay on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is located 0.7 km east of Breadloaf Island in the Larsemann Hills area .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named them, mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it in 1988 after the mountaineer and photographer Robert Leslie Easther, who took part in campaigns of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions several times from 1986 to 2001 and was director of the Davis station in 1986 .
