Eat No Fish was a German alternative rock band from Einbeck who wrote their lyrics in English .

The band name was an abbreviation for "Ear Addressing Trend Night Organization For Image Searching Heroes" according to PR material for the debut album.

Band history

In 1997 the four musicians met. Oppermann, Loos and Krause already knew each other from other projects and finally met the singer Maria Koch at a concert. Three months after Maria joined the band, Eat No Fish recorded a demo tape and sent it to the radio ffn band competition "Local Heroes Contest". As part of this competition with a total of 920 participants, the band made it to the final and finally won first place. The prize was a professional recording in the Horus Sound Studio in Hanover .

This was followed by a contract with the major label Virgin Records , under which the band produced and released their 1999 debut album "Greedy for Life". Due to the contract with a large record company, Eat No Fish toured Germany; They also played concerts in other European countries and appeared at various festivals and in many radio and TV stations all over Europe. “It was an incredible pace. Because of all the impressions, experiences and appointments, we hardly had a chance to think, ”said the singer on the band's MySpace page. In 2001 the album "Insane" was released, which received mixed reviews and whose sales figures could not keep up with those of the relatively successful debut. A longer break followed, during which the band had to overcome some serious cuts: the guitarist Lars Oppermann left the band, while the contract with Virgin also expired and was not renewed. In addition, the previous management was separated. The future of the band was uncertain for a long time and work on a third album came to a complete standstill.

The band subsequently moved to Hamburg and from 2005 they resumed work on the new album with new guitarist Jan Schröder and finally released the third studio album on July 28, 2006, "Make it home", on the new band's own label Artist Station Records appeared.

Somewhat surprisingly, the band finally announced their breakup on their homepage in February 2007.
