Ebba Schwimann-Pichler , actually Elfriede Schwimann-Pichler (born February 25, 1930 in Vienna as Elfriede Schwimann ), is an Austrian writer who gained fame above all for her children's and young people's books, which were primarily published in the 1970s and 1980s. Under the pseudonym Carrie Roessler , she wrote between the 1960s and 1990s mainly doctor and romance novels, as well as romance thrillers in booklet format. She has also written serial novels for the Yellow Press , as well as in paperback format.

life and career

Ebba Schwimann-Pichler was born Elfriede Schwimann on February 25, 1930 in Vienna and attended the Reinhardt seminar here in the 1940s , which she successfully completed in 1948. Subsequently, she worked on various basement stages until 1951 . She also married in 1951 and from then on appeared under the double name Schwimann-Pichler. From 1960 she worked as a permanent freelancer for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), where she worked on children's radio under Marga Frank . On the side she started to work as a freelance writer. One of her first known works was the book A Garden for Veronika. 2 stories. , which was published in 1967 by the Austrian Federal Publishing House. At the same time she also began writing doctor and romance novels, as well as romance thrillers in booklets, whereby she always appeared under the pseudonym Carrie Roessler and published such novels until the 1990s.

In the more upscale literature she appeared primarily as an author of books for children and young people, whereby the subject of love often played a major role here too. Her Karin series is best known , in which she tells in three volumes (1977: Karin's big decision , 1978: A summer for Karin and 1980: Karin goes her way ) about the protagonist Karin Bargel and her life in changing perspectives . Other well-known series of books by Schwimman-Pichler are the Julia series (1982: Julia - also parents worry , 1983: Julia - the time at Klarahof , 1983: Julia - holidays on the summer island and 1984: Julia - the step into life ) or Die Vier (1985: Die Vier. Ransom for Leopold , 1985: Die Vier. Troelle calls Feldhase and 1986: Die Vier. Rosen und Radishchen ). Today (as of 2018) the member of IG Authors lives in a senior citizens' facility in the 19th district of Döbling in Vienna .
