Ebbe Grims-land (born June 11, 1915 in Malmö , Sweden ; † January 27, 2015 in Bagarmossen , Sweden) was a Swedish violist , mandolin soloist and composer .

Life

Ebbe Grimsland received his training in Scandinavia and in other countries on the European continent. From 1943 to 1974 he played as a violist in the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and in other Stockholm ensembles.

During long stays in Bad Vöslau , Lower Austria from 1974 to 1998, he took part in the cultural life of Vienna and Lower Austria. From 1980 to 1990 he was a member of the orchestra of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna , and also worked as a violist in the string quartet .

Grimsland has created over 200 works, including solo pieces, various chamber music and works for string orchestra, as well as a symphony .

Memberships and honors

He received awards from the cultural institutions of the City of Vienna (1987) and 1974 from the Stockholm Cultural Council. Honorary membership in Samtida Musik followed in 2005.

Grims-land was affiliated with the Eugen-Suchoň-Fond , Bratislava , was a member of the Swedish composers' association (Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare, FST) and 'STIM / Svensk musik', where sheet music is archived and distributed. The music collection of the Albertina (Vienna) , the Vienna Music Collections and the State Music Collections in Stockholm also have sheet music.
