Eberhard glasses

Eberhard Gläser (born September 29, 1942 in Magdeburg ) is a German educator, former handball referee and sports official.

Career

In his youth, glasses first played football and was active as a cyclist, but switched to handball at the age of 15. Professionally he worked as a teacher in Magdeburg. In 1966 he became a member of BSG Motor Mitte (today: Magdeburger SV 90 Preussen ) and worked there as a handball player, trainer and referee. In 1968 he became head of the handball training center Magdeburg and was a. a. involved in the development of the player talents Holger Winselmann , Helmut Kurrat , Henning Fritz and Franziska Heinz as well as the referees Frank Lemme and Bernd Ullrich .

referee

From 1970, glasses was a referee in the GDR handball league and from 1978 IHF referee. As such, he whistled over 100 international games, including several women's world championships and numerous European Cup games.

Sports official

After the fall of the Wall he was President of the Handball Association of Saxony-Anhalt (HVSA) for 20 years . Since 1990 he has been a member of the extended presidium of the German Handball Federation (DHB). He is the organizer and founding member of the Central German Handball Association founded in 2007 .

Until 2010 he was head of the DHB referee observer. At the European level, he worked as an EHF delegate.

From 1990 to 2007 he was managing director of the Magdeburger Sportverein 1990 eV (formerly BSG Motor Mitte).
