Eberhard Lohr

Eberhard Löhr (born May 25, 1928 in Gadderbaum ; † November 9, 2014 in Essen ) was a German radiologist and radiation researcher.

Life

Eberhard Löhr comes from a family of scholars. After graduating from the Stormarn School in Ahrensburg , he studied in Hamburg. During his studies in 1950 he became a member of the Old Rostock Burschenschaft Obotritia zu Hamburg . After receiving his doctorate at the University of Hamburg in 1954, Löhr first received surgical training in the Bad Oldesloe hospital . This was followed by theoretical studies with the physiologist Karl Wezler in Frankfurt am Main. He then worked with Boris Rajewsky at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics there . He continued his clinical career at the Radiological Institute of theUniversity of Marburg . There he completed his habilitation in 1965 under René du Mesnil de Rochement . In the same year Löhr moved to Essen and was appointed full professor for diagnostic radiology in 1971 . Löhr was also director of the central institute for X-ray diagnostics at the Essen University Clinic at the former University of Essen (today: University of Duisburg-Essen ) until his retirement in 1994. In the course of his academic teaching activities, he supervised four post-doctoral degrees and 61 doctorates.

After his retirement, Löhr volunteered for hospitals in the Caribbean and Egypt.

Awards

For the diagnosis of a rare syphilis connata in a patient during a stay as a visiting lecturer, he was honored in Chile: Prof. hc. from the University of Santiago de Chile.
