Eberhard Schaich

Eberhard Schaich (born November 25, 1940 in Stuttgart ) is an economist and was rector of the University of Tübingen from 1999 to 2006 .

Life

Schaich initially trained as an industrial clerk and completed this training in 1960. He then studied economics at the University of Munich and graduated as a “Dip. oeconomicus ” 1964. This was followed by the dissertation (1967) and the habilitation (1969) at the State Economics Faculty of the University of Munich on the subject of "Statistics and Econometrics". In 1970 he was appointed professor of statistics at the University of Regensburg and taught at the same time at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . In 1977 he took over the chair for statistics, econometrics and business research at the University of Tübingen and was its rector from 1999 to 2006.

Work areas

Schaich dealt with sampling procedures, disparity and poverty measurement. Schaich taught on demography and stochastic processes in economics.

University policy

As rector of the University of Tübingen, he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Rectors' Conference from 1999 for both of his terms in office . From April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2006, Eberhard Schaich was chairman of this body.
