Eberhard von Block
Eberhard von Block (born April 19, 1923 in Kolberg ; † August 10, 2019 in Bonn - Bad Godesberg ) was a German brigadier general . From October 1, 1977 to June 30, 1980, he was in command of the department for functional and special courses at the command and control academy of the Bundeswehr .
Eberhard von Block joined the 9th Infantry Regiment of the Wehrmacht in 1941 as an officer candidate . He was platoon leader, operations officer and company commander in the Armored Infantry Regiment 9 of 26 Panzer Division of the Army of the German Wehrmacht in World War II . He became a lieutenant in 1943 and later a first lieutenant. In 1945 he was seriously wounded and both legs had to be amputated .
With the establishment of the Bundeswehr in 1956, he was hired as a captain. He was initially an inspection officer at the acceptance organization. Later he was a staff officer in the General Staff in various management positions in the Federal Armed Forces, in the Federal Ministry of Defense and at the Federal Armed Forces Leadership Academy in Hamburg. In 1983 he retired as brigadier general.
Eberhard von Block was a legal knight of the Order of St. John and for many years the Hamburg State Commissioner of the Order.
