Ebert Trio Vienna
The Ebert Trio Vienna was a classical music trio from Vienna . It made its debut on March 21, 1949 in the Brahms Hall of the Wiener Musikverein and was active in Europe until 1990.
history
The trio consisted of the three siblings Friedrich Wolfgang Ebert on the cello (born July 27, 1924 in Copenhagen; † August 31, 2013 in Vienna), Käthe Lotte Ebert on the violin (born May 13, 1926 in Leiden; † November 15, 2013 in Vienna) and Johannes Georg Ebert at the piano (born July 15, 1928 in Berlin; † September 1, 2013 in Vienna). The first public appearance of the sibling trio took place on July 23, 1948 in Bad Aussee . This was followed by 1,546 concert appearances, almost half of them in Germany, around a fifth in Austria and the rest spread across Italy and a dozen other countries, including Canada and the USA. In addition, some radio and television recordings were produced and broadcast by ORF . In 1951 the Ebert Trio was awarded the “Critique Prize” in Vienna. Since January 1952 the musicians have been playing around half of the repertoire by heart. This last comprised around one hundred classical and current works (by Alfred Uhl , Karl Schiske and Paul Kont, among others ).
From 1957 to 1960 the trio played around 100 concerts a year. From 1974 onwards, the number of appearances was drastically reduced in order to dedicate oneself to educational tasks. Georg Ebert was a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1972 to 1996 and Wolfgang and Lotte Ebert were teachers at the Vienna Conservatory .
The last concert took place on May 15, 1990 in the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna .
