Claus-Christian Schuster

Claus-Christian Schuster (born September 25, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian pianist and one of the founders of the Altenberg Trio .

Life

Schuster was already a skilled pianist in high school, who then took lessons from Wilhelm Huebner-Langenbruck. In 1969 he began his higher education with Hans Graf at the Vienna Music Academy, which he then continued at Indiana University Bloomington in 1971/1972. He got to know the pianist of the Beaux Arts Trio , Menahem Pressler , and at the same time worked as a répétiteur, at that time also planning to work as a song accompanist . But he then moved to the Moscow Conservatory and was accepted into the piano class of Vera Vasilyevna Gornostajewa .

In 1984 he was one of the co-founders of the Wiener Schubert Trio together with the violinist Boris Kuschnir and the cellist Martin Hornstein , with which he has already given concerts all over the world.

When the Wiener Schubert Trio was dissolved in 1993, Schuster formed the Altenberg Trio together with Amiram Ganz and Martin Hornstein. In 2012 he retired from concert activities.

From 1976 to 1986 Schuster taught at the Vienna University of Music and then until 2012 at the Vienna Conservatory . He has also given masterclasses in chamber music in Europe and the USA.
