Martin Hornstein

Martin Hornstein (born November 1, 1954 in Vienna ; † October 27, 2009 there ) was an Austrian cellist .

Life

Martin Hornstein studied cello at the Vienna University of Music and the Juilliard School in New York. He began his concert activities as a soloist and chamber musician while still studying with tours in Europe and Japan.

From 1985 to 1993 he was cellist of the Wiener Schubert Trio and from 1994 to 2004 a member of the Altenberg Trio Vienna.

In these trios he gave concerts in all major music centers, such as the La Scala in Milan , the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam , the Salzburg Festival , as well as the Wigmore Hall in London and the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival . He gave regular subscription concerts with the trio at the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna .

In the last years of his life he gave concerts with the pianist Janna Polyzoides.
