from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ebertswiese is a swampy meadow on the Rennsteig in the Thuringian Forest . The Spitter , a tributary of the Apfelstädt, rises from several swamp springs . It has been protected as a nature reserve since 1936.

location

The border between the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen and the district of Gotha runs across the Ebertswiese . This is also where the Rennsteig runs. He experiences a change of direction from south to east on the eastern edge of Ebertswiese. The municipality of Floh-Seligenthal has the largest share of the Ebertswiese , the south belongs to Tambach-Dietharz . The Ebertswiese lies between 700 m and 770 m above sea level. It drops sharply from west to east and forms roughly a semicircle. A 110 kV overhead line runs across the Ebertswiese.

tourism

The Ebertswiese is a local recreation area. In addition to the Berghotel Ebertswiese , the Pension Bergseebaude and hiking huts, the main attraction is the mountain lake not far to the southwest, which was created in a quarry after 1900. The cutting of a water vein ended the stone extraction, but has delighted swimmers ever since.

In the vicinity of the Ebertswiese are the Dreiherrenstein am Hangweg , a former boundary stone of the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar , the rule of Schmalkalden and the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg-Eisenach ( Amt Tenneberg ) from 1586 as well as the Spitterfall , Thuringia's highest natural waterfall.
