Ebon Pond

The Ebon Pond (English for ebony-colored pond ) is a pond on the Scott coast of East Antarctica Victoria Land . It is located on the southwestern extension of the Brown Peninsula .

The American geologist Troy L. Péwé (1918-1999) from Arizona State University examined the pond as part of Operation Deep Freeze, which lasted from 1957 to 1958 . He gave the pond its descriptive name based on the surrounding black volcanic rock .
