Ebony Ridge ( English for ebony ridge ) is an 8 km long mountain range in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It stretches between Airdrop Peak and Mount Robert Scott at the northern end of the Commonwealth Range . It consists of dark greywacke that contrasts sharply with the mainly ocher-brown surface of the granitic intrusions of the nearby Mount Kyffin and Mount Harcourt .
It was named after its appearance by participants in the New Zealand Alpine Club Antarctic Expedition (1959-1969).
