Ebrima Jobe (basketball player)

Alh. Ebrima "Mbat" Jobe (* 1949 or 1950 in Bathurst, today Banjul ; † June 9, 2020 ) was a Gambian basketball player .

Life

Jobe attended St. Mary's Primary School in the 1950s and 1960s and later Crab Island Secondary School. At the latter school he was trained in basketball by Cherno Barra Touray . He got the nickname "Mbat" from playing basketball and was considered the best player of his time in the basketball team Foyer as well as in the Gambian national basketball team . But Jobe turned down offers from around the world, such as Senegal, Mauritania and Mali, in Mbat's words "never wanted to leave his country to play for teams from other countries who were desperately looking for him".

Jobe died in mid-2020 after a brief illness and was buried in the Latri Kunda Yiriing 'anya cemetery.
