Echendu Adiele (born November 17, 1978 in Port Harcourt , Nigeria ; † June 18, 2011 ibid) was a German football player of Nigerian origin.

biography

The central defender , son of Babalola Adiele, who played football for Port Harcourt XI (Red Devils) in the 1960s and coached Sharks FC in the 1970s , began his career at his home club Port Harcourt Sharks and joined Julius Berger Lagos in 1995 . In 1997 he moved from Lagos to Fortuna Düsseldorf . After only one year, Adiele left the Rhinelander again and signed a contract with Borussia Neunkirchen , from where he moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken in 1999 . Adiele played there for seven years before joining SV Darmstadt 98 in 2006 . After the Lilien relegation, he moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim in the summer of 2007 , where he played until 2009, only to play for SV Darmstadt 98 again in the 2009/10 season. From January 2011 he played for the football club TSV Amicitia Viernheim .

Echendu Adiele had been a German citizen since February 27, 2008.

On June 18, 2011, Adiele died while visiting her home in Port Harcourt as a victim of a poison attack.
