Echeveria amphoralis is a species of the genus Echeveria ( Echeveria ) in the family of thick-leaf plants (Crassulaceae). The specific epithet amphoralis refers to the amphora-like corolla.

description

All parts of Echeveria amphoralis , with the exception of the inside of the flower, are hairy tomentose. The somewhat scattered or almost rosetted leaves are obovate-wedge-shaped and have an attached tip. They are up to 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. The stalked leaves are thick, green and red at the edge.

The inflorescence forms 20 centimeter long bunches with 4 to 7 individual flowers each. The flower stalk is up to 2 centimeters long and reaches a diameter of 3 millimeters. The ascending to widely spread sepals are semi-petiolate and are up to 14 millimeters long. The amphora-shaped corolla is 5-edged and is up to 24 millimeters long and up to 14 millimeters in diameter. The petals are colored scarlet red at the bottom and yellow at the edges and at the tip. The number of chromosomes is 38.

Distribution and systematics

Echeveria amphoralis is common in Mexico in the state of Oaxaca . The type plant was found near Tlaxiaco on the Rio de Tablas at an altitude of 2,130 meters.

It was first described in 1958 by Edward Eric Walther .
