Echinopsis adolfofriedrichii is a species of the genus Echinopsis in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet adolfofriedrichii honors the Austrian photographer and cactus collector Adolfo Maria Friedrich (1897–1987), who emigrated to Brazil in 1925 and settled in Paraguay in 1930.

Echinopsis adolfofriedrichii grows individually and only rarely sprouts. The depressed spherical to spherical, cloudy dark green shoots reach heights of growth of 7 to 15 centimeters and a diameter of 10 to 10 centimeters. There are 11 to 13 sharp-edged, high ribs . The white to gray areoles on it are 1.5 to 2 centimeters apart. From them arise honey-colored to gray thorns that are tipped brown. One to two central spines and four to seven radial spines are formed.

The funnel-shaped, tubular white flowers are fragrant and open at night. They are 18 to 20 centimeters long and have a diameter of 10 to 13 centimeters. The spherical fruits are blackish green to brownish and very hairy. They have a length of up to 3 centimeters and a diameter of 2.5 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Echinopsis adolfofriedrichii is widespread in southeast Paraguay .

The first description by Günther Moser was published in 1982. Echinopsis adolfofriedrichii is closely related to Echinopsis oxygona .
