Echium gentianoides , also called gentian-like adder head , is a species of the genus adder heads ( Echium ) and belongs to the family of the predatory leaf family (Boraginaceae).
description
The strongly branched shrub reaches heights of growth of up to 70 cm. The lanceolate leaves are bristly on top and glabrous on the underside. The blue-violet flowers are somewhat reminiscent of gentian flowers ( Gentiana ). The stamens protrude just a little over the corolla tube.
Occurrence
Echium gentianoides is endemic to the Canary Island of La Palma . The plant thrives at high altitudes between 1650 and 2400 m, especially in the plant community Tolpidetum calderae. Occurrence mainly near Los Coralejos and Cumbres de Garafia.
