Real time tactical game

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A real-time tactical game describes a sub-genre of real-time strategy game and military simulation or operational simulation , which is about tactically controlling individual units on a playing field.

Features and demarcation from real-time strategy

In contrast to the pure real-time strategy , the focus is on the control of a few individual units on a battlefield, which the player has to control tactically, and usually no resources can be managed or buildings, unit types and civilizations can be built. Also on diplomacy , research and economic is largely unnecessary. So there is no prior build-up or troop production. Important game elements are the formation, coordination and control of units, the arming and healing of these units and the implementation of attack and defense strategies. However, there are similarities to the real-time strategy in the interface, the map view and the real-time principle. The game goals and scenarios are completely different.
