Eckhard Horn

Eckhard Horn (born December 1, 1938 in Mannheim ; † October 18, 2004 ) was a German lawyer and professor at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

Life

After studying law at the University of Bonn , he received his doctorate there in 1967. iur. With the completion of his habilitation in 1972 he received the venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law and criminal procedure law. He then worked as a scientific adviser and later as a professor at the University of Bonn. In 1973 he moved to a chair at the University of Göttingen . Four years later he moved to the University of Kiel , where he was Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law until his early retirement in 2000. Since 1978 he has been a judge in the second main office at the Schleswig-Holstein Higher Regional Courtin Schleswig. From 1981 to 1983 he was Dean of the Kiel Faculty of Law. From 1983 to 1995 he was director of the Institute for Environmental Protection, Commercial and Tax Criminal Law and from 1985 to 2000 director of the Institute for Sanctions Law and Criminology. In 2001 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his services to the scientific penetration, in particular of environmental criminal law and sanctions law.
