Eckhard M. Theewen

Eckhard Maria Theewen (* 1959 in Cologne ) is a German legal scholar , historian and publicist .

Life

Theewen studied history and law at the Universities of Cologne and Paris and completed his studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Cologne with a doctorate in French civil law. After training as a banker and working for various banks, he worked for Kölner Bank for many years. a. in problem loan management . Since then he has worked as a lawyer and specialist lawyer for banking and capital markets law and was a lecturer at the Hagen Law School.

As a legal scholar, Theewen deals with banking law, bank liability law, credit law and capital investment law as well as corporate restructuring and insolvency law .

As a historian and journalist, his research focuses on the era of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire and their reception in Germany and England.

From a socio-cultural perspective, Theewen is a member of the board of trustees of the non-profit Ilona Foundation , which is committed to promoting art, universities and training.
