.gd

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

.gd is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for the island state Grenada . It has existed since June 3, 1992 and is administered by the state telecommunications authority.

properties

Domains can only be registered on the second level. There are no special restrictions so that any natural or legal person can act as owner or admin-c . A place of residence or a branch in Grenada is not necessary. In contrast to other top-level domains, a .gd domain can consist of just one character; addresses such as a.gd or b.gd have in the past been sold for several times the government fee .

history

The top-level domain was initially orphaned for years. It was not until April 2007 that the administration was handed over to the AdamNames company, which was responsible for technical operations and has since actively marketed .gd. In spring 2013 AdamNames was replaced by the Saarland KSregistry after security problems became known.
