.hm is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Heard and McDonald Islands . It was introduced on July 24, 1997 and is administered by the HM Domain Registry based in Canberra .

Domains are only registered directly under .hm, there are no official second-level domains . Each address must be between three and 60 characters long and contain only alphanumeric characters . A residence or branch office on the islands is not required. With a European registry, the connection takes about a week and is completely automated.

The most expensive .hm domain ever sold was sex.hm , which changed hands in 2002. There is no public information about the international distribution of the domain.
