.tp

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

.tp was the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Portuguese colony Portuguese Timor . The colony had declared itself independent in 1975 but was annexed by Indonesia nine days later. Under international law it remained officially Portuguese territory, since the declaration of independence and Indonesian annexation were never recognized. In 1999 the United Nations took over the administration.

The top-level domain was newly introduced in May 1997 by Connect Ireland , based in Ireland. With the independence of the colony as East Timor in 2002, the top-level domain .tl was assigned to the new state . The old top-level domain .tp was deleted on February 28, 2015.
